Transcending Toxic Polarization

Toxic polarization is dividing our nation and communities, with churches finding themselves increasingly entangled in ever-widening fractures. Over the past two years, a growing number of pastors have contemplated leaving full-time ministry, with political division named as a primary catalyst.

“65% of Americans identify as Christian, surpassing the combined membership of both major political parties,” according to Nona Jones, Chief Content & Partnership Officer at YouVersion. “We are not waiting on Congress to fix what is broken, we are waiting on the Church.” The divided American church truly needs a restored vision for true community, one that doesn’t seek to eliminate disagreement, but sees an opportunity to give witness to the transformative power of the Gospel of Jesus.
