Vanguard University Presidential Debate Watch Party

Vanguard University will dedicate 2024 as its “Year of Civility.” Likewise, the Matthew 5:9 Fellowship will work with Evangelical pastors, leaders, and laypeople across the nation to help them cultivate the kind of peacemaking posture Jesus calls us to in the Beatitudes. Vanguard Professor of Political Science Dr. Eunice Kang and Vanguard’s Student Government Association will partner with the Matthew 5:9 Fellowship to hold a presidential debate watch party where students will identify instances of toxically polarizing rhetoric between the candidates.

About 100 students are expected to attend to learn more about how to become aware of politically divisive language, be more resilient in the midst of it, and, therefore, exercise civility and peacemaking as followers of Christ. Several local radio stations and The Daily Pilot will also cover the debate watch party.
